An Introduction:

 
Memoirs of a Vampire Hunter, a novel by Peter Allchin, begins with a serene setting in the Vosges Mountains of France. The twilight shadows are lengthening and daylight will soon be gone. Dr. Peter Reiner looks out towards the disappearing sun; everything looks so peaceful.

Behind him is the Château of Count Victor Vasislaw, a former general in the army of Vlad Tepes, The Impaler. Now, four hundred years later, Vasislaw preys on the young and innocent, for their blood!

Reiner turns to face the château, it is a foreboding place. Stone gargoyles stare down; mocking him. He lifts the heavy knocker, but before he can slam it against solid oak, the door opens. He enters the Château as the last remnants of daylight fade away...
